French motorcyclists invited to work on Korean road safety Member news April 28, 2025 For several years, the FFMC – a member of FEMA – has been sharing its expertise in training and protective equipment at the French and European levels. This in-depth work has generated interest in road safety in France, as well as among Korean authorities, eager to improve motorcyclist safety in their country. Isabelle Lebret (FFMC) and Mr Jae Hong, Joo, KOTSA Principal Researcher. At the FFMC headquarters in Montreuil, a unique partnership was signed between the French motorcyclists’ organisation FFMC and the South-Korean Transportation Safety Authority (KOTSA). This memorandum of understanding marks a milestone in international cooperation for the prevention of powered two-wheeler risks. While in France, 125cc training for B licence holders remains at seven hours, Korea has chosen to go further. Following discussions initiated with the FFMC, it has set up a complete 16-hour motorcycle school driving course, accompanied by the provision of a HJC helmet – a local brand – and a 3% discount on their insurance. This is a proactive policy, financed by the Korean government, which considers these investments as an effective lever for reducing accidents, a true inter-ministerial effort between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Health and Welfare! This new agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations to develop concrete actions in safety education and risk prevention. Seminars and workshops will be organized annually, allowing for the exchange of best practices, feedback, and joint initiatives to promote safer driving. Didier Renoux, representative of the FFMC at the CNSR (National Road Safety Council), welcomes this signature: “This agreement represents an exceptional opportunity to combine our experience and expertise to advance road safety prevention. It also demonstrates that the FFMC is internationally recognized as a major player in road safety.” Beyond the symbolism, this partnership underlines the seriousness of the work carried out by the FFMC for over 40 years. Korea, by drawing inspiration from our proposals, demonstrates that the ideas put forward by French motorcyclists can have an impact far beyond our borders. “여러분과 함께 일하게 되어 기쁩니다. 함께하면 더 강해질 수 있기 때문입니다” “I am excited to work with you all, because together we are stronger.” Source: FFMC This article is subject to FEMA’s copyright Share on Facebook Share Share on TwitterTweet Share on Pinterest Share Share on LinkedIn Share Share on Digg Share Send email Mail Print Print
