FIM Europe Congress 2025 Blogs July 10, 2025July 14, 2025 FEMA’s General Secretary Wim Taal was invited to be a guest at the FIM Europe Congress 2025. Here’s how he experienced the event. Attending the FIM Europe Congress 2025 in Malta was both inspiring and productive. The FIM Europe team provided the delegates from over thirty motorcycling organisations with an excellent setting to discuss the future of motorcycling in Europe. On day two of the Congress I was a guest of the Public Affairs Commission, led by chairman Dimitris Margaritis. From FIM Europe’s press release after day two: “Among the priorities were the upcoming revisions to European legislation, including the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive, which could have consequences for the PTW sector. The Commission also began revising and drafting new position papers together with FEMA, aiming to safeguard motorcycling’s role in sustainable mobility. The presence of the FEMA Secretary General added further weight to the discussions, reinforcing the importance of alignment and active cooperation across motorcycling bodies.” One of the highlights for me was the Secretaries General meeting, which confirmed that, despite our different focus areas, we share many common goals, especially when it comes to road safety. What really stood out was the attention given to road safety and innovation. It’s encouraging to see that safety is not just an afterthought but a central them, and that aligns perfectly with FEMA’s mission. I appreciated the transparency in financial and strategic matters during the General Assembly. Knowing how funds are used and what the priorities are for the coming year helps build effective cooperation across the entire motorcycling sector. The Congress reinforced for me how crucial it is for FEMA to stay engaged in these spaces. We may represent different corners of motorcycling, like sport, mobility and advocacy, but together, we can shape a safer, more sustainable future for all riders.
